Price monitoring investigation: Unitywater and Urban Utilities 2026-30

On 24 September 2025, the Queensland Government directed us to conduct a price monitoring investigation into the monopoly business activities of Unitywater and Urban Utilities for the period 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2030 (the price monitoring period).

Our investigation is being undertaken in two phases:

• Phase 1: An interim report in May 2026 — for the period 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027
• Phase 2: A draft report in December 2026, followed by a final report in April 2027 — for the period 1 July 2027 to 30 June 2030

We have completed phase 1 and published our interim reports for Unitywater and Urban Utilities.

The next step in our process will be publishing phase 2 submissions from Unitywater and Urban Utilities ahead of our draft report in December 2026.
